Becoming Free Documentary: A Night with the Filmmaker & the Reentry Community

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Documentary screening begins at 7 pm. Becoming Free is a project of District of Columbia documentary filmmaker Kristin Adair. The screening will conclude with a Q&A featuring the filmmaker, a collaborator of the film, and Philadelphians in the reentry community. From the film's website: "Becoming Free is a short film and collaborative multimedia project that explores the reentry experience of three young people in the District of Columbia as they seek to break the cycle of poverty, violence and incarceration through entrepreneurship. But they are always walking the “thin line” that can lead back to prison with the smallest misstep or along a new path to the future. The project grew out of a partnership with District of Columbia non-profit organization Changing Perceptions, which works to help returning citizens (formerly incarcerated individuals) to reach their full potential, personally and professionally.”
