City to Host Civic Engagement Academy Learning Sessions These sessions will provide Philadelphians with the tools to become leaders, organizers, and activists.
PHILADELPHIA - Beginning April 17, 2018, the Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service (OCEVS) will offer a monthly series of civic engagement trainings for Philadelphians. The Civic Engagement Academy (CEA) Learning Series comes after the success of last October’s CEA 2.0 and a year that saw unprecedented interest for Philadelphians getting involved in causes and service. In 2017, OCEVS trained more than 600 Philadelphians through its community education programs, more than twice the total number of people that had attended these trainings before 2017. CEA trainings will take place on the third Tuesday of every month in the Municipal Services Building, 1401 JFK Boulevard. The first is scheduled for April 17, 5:00 pm. Each month, subject experts will present on advanced civic engagement topics, including Goal Setting, Media & Marketing, and more. The goal of these trainings is to provide Philadelphians with tools to become leaders, organizers, and activists. Residents can sign up for all nine trainings or choose their own by selecting just one or two. A complete list of sessions and registration information is available at serve.phila.gov/cea-learning-series. Trainings will be held monthly from April through December.
