United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) invites you to Trauma 101 and 102. Traditional beliefs about the causes of “misbehavior” that have been around for centuries are quickly changing as we understand more about how childhood trauma changes the architecture of the developing brain and affects educational, health and social outcomes. To help individuals and organizations throughout our region gain knowledge about trauma-informed care, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey will host Trauma 101 and 102 workshops, taught by Lakeside Global Institute.
Trauma 101: An Overview of Trauma-Informed Care Research shows that 67% of the population has experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience. As a society and as individuals, we need to be better informed and prepared to prevent and address the traumatic impact of childhood adversities. In this multi-media, interactive workshop, professionals work together to build a powerful image that helps them appreciate the complex nature of trauma and its aftermath.
