Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Philadelphia Reentry Coalition's first 2019 Training event! We were lucky enough to have Dr. Gillian Murray and Dr. Claire Sitarz share a informative and comprehensive presentation with attendees, which allowed us all to refresh ourselves on the brain's functions, while learning how traumatic brain injuries of and criminal justice involvement is often linked.
This presentation explored several relevant topics. Information about the prevalence of TBI and how TBI impacts and increases the vulnerability of these populations was discussed. Attendees also received training on the use of a TBI screening tool. Available funding for rehabilitation after TBI was be reviewed, including eligibility requirements and what services each resource provides.
