
The Deputy Managing Director of Criminal Justice and Public Safety oversees a cluster of agencies that deal directly with the criminal justice and public safety systems. The cabinet is designed to provide coordination between the Police Department (PPD), Fire Department (PFD), Prisons Department (PDP), Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and Department of Licenses & Inspections (L & I); and direct the Office of Criminal Justice (OCJ), the Office of Violence Prevention (OVP), the soon to be formed Office of Reentry Partnership (ORP), and the Counsel Fees Unit. Additionally, the division serves as the liaison to the First Judicial District, District Attorney’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Defenders Association.
Job Description
The Criminal Justice and Public Safety Cabinet is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Senior Director of the newly formed Office of Reentry Partnerships. This individual will be a direct report to the Deputy Managing Director for Criminal Justice and Public Safety and will be responsible for the development and implementation of the City’s plans, strategies, policies, and programs regarding reentry, with a special focus on reducing recidivism and improving public safety by ensuring that Philadelphians returning from incarceration have access to the necessary resources, supports, and opportunities.
Salary: $120,000/yr
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Graduate degree in related field preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
Minimum of 7 years of experience in a public safety, criminal justice, social services, or public health organization, in a leadership position
Minimum of 5 years managerial, supervisory, or executive experience
Minimum of 3 years community engagement experience, with a demonstrated passion for engaging community members in work to improve their neighborhoods
Experience implementing an evidence-based program
