PHS Looking to Hire Workforce Development Manager
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) advances the well-being of the Philadelphia region by creating healthier living environments, building deeper connections between people, and increasing access to fresh food and economic opportunity. Together with the City and community-based organizations, PHS works to transform Philadelphia’s vacant land into neighborhood assets by building and managing a network of local contractors and community groups to stabilize, clean, green and maintain vacant lots in Philadelphia. To further grow economic opportunities, PHS leads pre and post-release training programs for returning citizens and places successful candidates in jobs with contractors and organizations in our network.
The Workforce Development Manager will lead the development and implementation of training and job placement initiatives that provide people with barriers to employment due to incarceration, a criminal record, or other factors, with the tools and support needed to obtain meaningful employment in the landscape and horticulture industries. This position will oversee current training programs which include intensive hands-on training in horticulture, landscape maintenance and job preparedness workshops. This position will build on existing curricula, develop detailed implementation plans, oversee instructors, deliver trainings, measure performance, manage program administration and contribute to the growth of existing and new workforce development programs.
