Broad Street Ministry Hiring for Four Positions

Broad Street Ministry is currently hiring for a variety of positions:

1) Support Staff for Overnight Winter Respite ("Cafe")

2) Shift Supervisor for Overnight Winter Respite ("Cafe Supervisor")

3) Triage Coordinator (help desk/welcome center)

4) Mail and ID Coordinator (help folks obtain ID documents)

1) Support Staff for Overnight Winter Respite ("Cafe")

Each winter we open our space overnight for 75-100 adults who are street homeless and unable/feel unsafe to access shelter through the city. We are the only all-gender, singles-and-couples respite in the city. Support staff welcome in guests each night, provide a light meal, monitor the space for safety and de-escalate conflicts as needed. Shifts starting at 7pm, and 2am. P/T or F/T, Now through April 1.

2) Shift Supervisor for Overnight Winter Respite ("Cafe Supervisor")

Supervisor directs team of three support staff for the respite, ensuring staff is making rounds, addressing guests' needs, working together as a team, etc. Now thru April 1. P/T or F/T.

3) Triage Coordinator (help desk/welcome center)

Because most social service agencies require intakes before people can access services, and because of the urgency many of our guests experience, our triage coordinator serves as a first welcoming face to welcome people into our space and get them connected with the services they need. Provides resources in real time, and connects people with concierges (case managers) for more complex asks. P/T 20-35 hours/week). Permanent.

4) ID & Mail Coordinator

This is my favorite, personally because I piloted our two earlier iterations of what will now become a fully funded, permanent program helping guests obtain ID documents. It's easy to take a mailing address and photo ID for granted. But, for people living in deep poverty or homelessness, without these resources you cannot apply for benefits, enter most municipal or federal buildings, draw social security, collect veterans benefits, apply for a job, open a bank account, get a cell phone, satisfy probation and parole requirements, and more. F/T, Permanent.
