Free Career Readiness Soft Skills Pre-Apprenticeship Program


While we find ourselves in uncertain times, we also find ourselves thinking about the future, which is why we want to share this free training opportunity with you to prepare for your future career. This program provides a solid foundation in workplace skills emphasizing communication, teamwork, technology, life skills, and budget basics. Gain the skills needed to prepare for entry into employment, Registered Apprenticeship programs or further education in any field.

Learn the teamwork, communication and decision-making skills needed to find and keep employment through the following courses:

  • Critical Thinking (6 hours)

  • Working in Teams (6 hours)

  • Problem Solving (6 hours)

  • Interpersonal Communication (6 hours)

  • Winning Work Habits Overview (6 hours)

  • Life Skills (12 hours)

  • Budget Basics (12 hours)

  • Basic Math Review (10 hours)

  • ACT WorkKeys (12 hours)

Additional program benefits include:

  • Individualized career counseling and support

  • Resume development

  • Job search and interview preparation

  • Certificate of completion

  • Enrollment to take the ACT National Career Readiness certification examination

Who can enroll in this free program?

  • Unemployed or underemployed individuals

  • Out of school youth

  • Low-income individuals

  • Citizens with disabilities

  • Formerly incarcerated individuals

Minimum Entry Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent

Program Duration and Hours: Sessions planned to begin Mid-May and run throughout the summer; 3 weeks (day program) or 6 weeks (evening program); 64 hours
