The ACLU of Pennsylvania’s lobbying training for its advocates traditionally focuses on how to lobby in Harrisburg as a constituent on behalf of ACLU-PA issues. We review how the General Assembly operates, discuss when lobbying is the most effective, and prepare members to speak comfortably on civil liberties issues.
This month, we are offering an adjusted training session for allied organizations, coalition partners, and their members to gain usable skills and offer a glimpse behind the curtain of the ACLU-PA’s legislative approach. We will briefly explain our Advocate Academy model—a group of members, supporters, and volunteers from across the commonwealth who are trained to engage on our issues—before digging into fundamental lobbying strategies and tactics that you can deploy to advance your organization's mission and goals. We hope you can join us, and we encourage you to spread the word!
