First Lady Frances Wolf will moderate a virtual conversation of reentry advocates and mental health and substance use disorder experts, discussing the impacts of mental health and substance use disorder on incarcerated women and women reentering, and highlighting existing services for women.
According to the PA Dept. of Corrections, more than 65% of incarcerated women are on the mental health roster, with about 13% of women recorded as being seriously mentally ill. Additionally, more than half of them also have a history of substance use disorder.
Join the conversation and learn about the work being done to assist these women upon their return home.
The panel includes:
Dan Jurman, Executive Director of the PA Office of Advocacy and Reform
Rev. Dr. Michelle Simmons, CEO and Founder of Why Not Prosper
Jen Smith, Secretary of PA Dept. of Drug and Alcohol Programs
Jamie Minick, Assistant Branch Director at Bethany Christian Services of Central PA and WV’s ReNew Program
Kelly Evans, Deputy Secretary of Reentry at the PA Dept. of Corrections
