Philadelphia Foundation Offers Grant Opportunities for Youth Art Programs (8/1)


New grant opportunity through the Philadelphia Foundation for nonprofits serving youth with arts programming. Max award is $40,000, with up to 10 organizations receiving awards.


The Forman Family Fund of Philadelphia Foundation Grants of up to $40,000 to Nonprofits Serving Youth The Nessa Forman, David Forman, Eleanor and Solomon Forman Family Fund - a Designated Fund of Philadelphia Foundation - is pleased to announce the availability of grants to support Greater Philadelphia nonprofits serving young people ages 11 to 18 that offer in-school or out-of-school-time programs which provide training, education and exposure to photography, architectural drawing and architecture or the written arts.  Up to 10 grants of no more than $40,000 each will be awarded annually. The fund was established through the estate of Nessa R. Forman, former V.P. for Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at WHYY and former Arts and Leisure Editor of the Philadelphia Bulletin. She was a passionate advocate for arts education.

Program Requirements The programs that will be funded must:

  • Be open to all young people ages 11 to 18.

  • Be curriculum-based and at least one semester in length (with a preference for year-long programs)

  • Have been operating for at least two years with a proven track record.

  • Be focused on written arts or in the specific visual arts of photography, architecture, or architectural drawing. Learn more about the grant including the types of projects funded here.
