The PHS department of Workforce development in partnership with the William Penn Foundation are offering a unique opportunity for residents of Southwest Philadelphia to develop their skills in tree care and urban greening.


This paid, six-week training will introduce individuals to the rapidly growing tree care industry in and around Philadelphia. Participants will take part in classroom & hands on training in ecology, basic tree care and tool & equipment operation.

Upon completion, trainees will graduate and be placed in full time jobs with long term potential within PHS’s network of employer partners.


When: February 20th thru March 31st 2023

Weekly schedule: Monday – Friday 8am-2:30pm

Where: Bartram’s Garden in Southwest Philadelphia

Admission Criteria:

1. Must be over 18 years of age

2. Be legally eligible to work in Pennsylvania

3. Be a resident of one of the following SW Philadelphia zip codes: 19153, 19143, 19142, 19139

4. Be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

5. Be physically able to perform all tasks associated with an outdoor, physical labor position

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s department of workforce development in partnership with the City of Philadelphia are recruiting for our green industry job training bootcamp happening spring 2023.


This paid, six-week training will introduce individuals to the rapidly growing green industry in and around Philadelphia. Participants will take part in classroom & hands on training in basic ecology, landscape maintenance and tool & equipment operation. Additional workshops in Job readiness will also be included in the training.


Upon completion, trainees will graduate and be placed in full time jobs with long term potential within PHS’s network of employer partners.


WHEN:

- Cohort I: 3/20/2023 thru 4/28/2023

- Cohort II: 4/17/2023 thru 5/26/2023


Weekly schedule: Monday – Friday 8am-2:30pm

WHERE: FDR Park in South Philadelphia, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Community Clubhouse
