PHS’s Workforce Development (WFD) Department is seeking a qualified partner organization that can provide Job Readiness training for our late winter early spring intensive training program in landscaping & horticulture. The PHS Green Industry Workforce Development Bootcamp is part of the Philadelphia LandCare program, which maintains more than 12,000 vacant lots, a footprint totaling 16 million square feet throughout the city.

The program trains and helps place underserved residents of the city in green jobs with LandCare landscape contractors, community organizations and local contractors that transform and maintain vacant land in neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Vacant land greened by PHS improves the quality of life for residents, enhances neighborhood conditions, raises property values, and increases public health and safety. The training program operates in a 3 phased approach over a 6-week span:

  • Phase 1: 4-week intensive training in green jobs & job readiness

  • Phase 2: 2-week On-the-Job internship with local contractors

  • Phase 3: Job Placement and support services

For 2023, two training cohorts of approximately twenty-five participants each will be conducted at FDR Park in South Philadelphia. Training dates for each cohort are as follows:
