On September 10th, PRC hosted Part 1 of a two-part training series on putting racial equity into practice in Philadelphia’s criminal justice system.
Facilitated by Philadelphia's Office of Criminal Justice, Part 1 provided an overview of the policies, trends, and cultural narratives that created a racialized system of mass incarceration in Philadelphia and across the country. This training gave attendees the historical foundation needed to unpack structural racism in Philadelphia - and to start building new, more just systems.
We're now happy to share both the recording of the presentation as well as a document including definitions of some of the terms covered in the training as well as a list of book/ article recommendations. We hope these prove useful to everyone as they continue to push for racial equity in our workplaces and in our lives.
