The ACLU Seeks Clients Prevented from Expungement Due to Cost

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Pennsylvania is looking for cases where a person is unable to obtain an expungement because of unpaid fines or costs. In some courts, clerks' offices prevent individuals from even filing such petitions, and in others judges may routinely deny them because of the unpaid debt. We believe such practices are unlawful and would like to connect with attorneys who are running into these barriers when representing their clients. Please reach out to Andrew Christy achristy@aclupa.org if this is a problem that is impacting your clients and you would like to work with the ACLU to put an end to the practice.
