The Searchlight Series Conversations about crime, justice, and the American prison system First Tuesday evening of every month

50th Anniversary of the Attica Prison Uprising Tuesday, September 7, 6:00 - 7:00 pm ET Free. Live-streamed on Facebook and via Zoom webinar.

Join our guests Dee Quinn Miller, Heather Ann Thompson and Aaron Noble for a panel discussion commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Attica Prison Uprising, the subsequent retaking of the prison, and the legacy of Attica half a century later. The Attica Prison Uprising in September 1971 is remembered as a landmark event in the history of civil rights struggles for incarcerated Americans. It resulted in the deaths of 43 people, including 10 correctional officers, most by New York state police gunfire during the retaking of the facility.
