The People’s Paper Co-op (PPC) is a women led, women focused, women powered, art and advocacy project at The Village of Arts and Humanities. We work with artists, activists, and legislative experts to:
Build relationships with other phenomenal women from across the city
Create photos, films, poems, and campaigns that destroy toxic stereotypes about women in reentry
Help make art that will free women who are sitting in jail due to cash bail
Design and organize public events to amplify the voices of women
Advocate for social, educational, and political changes that will help women in reentry to succeed in their communities
What forms of support will Fellows receive for their time in the project?
A stipend of $1150 for fellows who attend, and actively participate, in at least 17 of the 19 full workshops and one public event
Transportation assistance (to those without trans-passes or their own transportation)
Learn to create and take home many art projects
Public speaking skills and opportunities
Connect with an incredible array of professional women across the city
This spring, the fellows in the PPC will help with a campaign to raise funds to bail moms and caregivers out, and bring them home in time for Mother’s Day
Covid Protocols
To ensure the health and safety of all People’s Paper Co-op staff, fellows, and partners we are taking the following precautions:
While most of our workshops will be held in person, some will be held virtually.
When weather allows, in-person workshops will be held outside
KN95 masks will be provided to all staff and participants free of cost and must be worn correctly and at all times
Any individuals who are sick or showing symptoms should remain home
PCR tests will be provided, if needed
There will be no communal eating or drinking indoors; participants are asked to find a space away from others so they're able to take off their masks and eat
